The Atomic Man is a duathlon, where participants start with a run, then bike, and finish with another run.
We are proud to announce a portion of the proceeds will go to support underprivileged cross country runners in northern New Mexico! Many of our local communities cannot afford to send their children to athletic events (e.g. traveling to Albuquerque) or decent running shoes. One of our beneficiaries will be the Coronado Cross Country Team, who do not have their own uniforms when competing at meets. We hope that the Atomic Man can help children continue their love of running, biking, and other sports.
Registrants may also donate an additional amount to this cause in the donation box. Los Alamos Triatomics (the hosting organization for the Atomic Man Duathlon) is a 501c3 organization and donations are tax deductible. ONLY THE ADDITIONAL DONATION AMOUNT, NOT THE RACE REGISTRATION, IS ELIGIBLE FOR TAX DEDUCTION.

We will have race day registrations so encourage friends who haven’t signed up to join you. You should bring with you a copy of your current USAT membership form plus a photo ID to receive your race packet. If you are not a USAT member during the electronic registration you should have also paid for a one-day USAT registration fee. As a reminder only you may pick up your race materials. If you are participating as a part of a relay, you will both need to be present.
Please plan on parking at the Pinon Park near the tennis courts versus along the side streets near the race venue.
Please be aware of the rules for participating in a duathlon as sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Click on the button to learn about the rules and most common violations.
This particular course is held on open roadways so remember to stay to the right of the road when you are cycling and to the left of the road while running. Keep your heads up and be aware of your surroundings. The LAPD will be on the corner of Grand Canyon/NM 4 as well as another at the respective turn arounds to direct vehicular traffic. There will be a volunteer posted at the bike turnarounds.
There will be two aide stations on the run course serving your choice of water and Base
Performance Hydro. Remember there will not be an aide station on the bike course thus you should be prepared with enough water/nutrition to support your needs.
Any great endurance events needs the wonderful support from the community. If you decide to not race, consider volunteering!
Note that the difference between the 5K run and the 10K run is you the latter is two loops.
