The Thursday night mountain bike time trial (TNMTBTT) is an event held by Triatomics typically from the beginning of June until August. The event is a "race", where participants start at the same time with a sprint of the start line.
Location: PTLA track behind the lab parking garage
Route: 3 km long loop of the lab fitness trail. The trail used is intermediate level and has a single track/fire road climb with a rocky but not to steep single track descent.
Warm Up Time: 5:30 pm - warm up/sighting lap. The warm up lap is a very easy pace.
"Race Time": 6:00 pm - Upon completing the warm up lap, we start the event at 6:00 pm. Many people choose to skip the warm up lap and come for the for the “official” start at 6:00 pm. Two laps are usually raced and times range from 18-35 minutes and some beginners choose to only complete only one lap.
Timing: The event is usually timed in a casual way and results are sent out by email.
The TNMTBTT is a great weeknight event with a friendly atmosphere and all with at least a bit of MTB experience are welcome!
The PTLA trail is on LANL property and is labeled as LANL badge holders only.
One of our most popular events, the Splash N Dash! Participants can choose the following distances:
The swim is at the Larry Walkup Aquatic Center in Los Alamos. The run is on the sidewalks around the Aquatic Center, High School, and local neighborhoods.
Participants can also “tag-team” the swim/run. All are encouraged to join in on the fun!
We host a variety of clinics like proper running form.
During the colder months, we have yoga sessions.
We have monthly socials after bike rides. We also have our holiday social dinner in December at a local restaurant in Los Alamos, where we can enjoy each others’ company as well as show off the year’s racing bling!
